1. Shining Stars Dance School is a Christian owned dance studio. Therefore, Christian music will be used. 2. Dancers must be at least the minimum age for the class before September 1st for all fall classes and before June 1st for all summer classes. The only exception is if an instructor invites them to move up before they are the minimum age. 3. Dancers must dress out. Leotard and tights are preferred but not required. Dancers need to be dressed in clothing suitable for stretching and dancing. (Jeans, jean shorts, dresses, etc. are not acceptable.) A student dressed inappropriately may be asked to sit out. Hair must be up. 4. Ballet and Tap shoes are required for ballet and tap classes. Color of ballet shoes is optional until the recital. A specific color requirement will be given in the spring for the recital. Beginning tap students will need black patent tap shoes and must have elastic instead of the ribbons (these can be purchased at SSDS). Intermediate through advanced tap students need a jazz tap shoe. Jazz shoes are required for all jazz classes. A low tread tennis shoe purchased and used only for class is required for all hip hop classes. 5. Parents are only allowed to stay in the dance room for extreme circumstances (i.e. a child refuses to stay in class without the parent - we are willing to work with you but, eventually the child must be able to stay in class without the parent.) If you would like to observe class please ask the instructor. 6. There is a yearly registration / recital fee of $40 per child or $50 per family due before your child's first class. (Exalt performance group yearly registration is an additional $75) Monthly payments should be made to the Shining Stars office before the 10th of the month. You will not receive a bill. A $5 late fee will be added to your monthly charge if you do not pay by the 10th. If you do not pay by the end of the month the student will be asked to observe rather than participate until your account is paid in full. Please turn in all payments in the payment box and not to the instructor. If you pay with cash please put the payment in an envelope with the child's name, the date, and the amount enclosed on the outside. A $35 service charge will be charged for all returned checks. All fees are non-refundable. Fees are charged by the month not the class. A make-up will be scheduled in the event that the teacher was unable to be there for the regularly scheduled class. 7. During the fall, if your child plans to participate in the recital, you will be required to purchase a costume that is chosen by the teaching staff. The cost is $60.00 for each costume (this includes tights) and must be paid with a separate check and is due no later than December 10th. If your child is not going to be in the recital please notify us before November 1st. During the spring you will be notified of other items you will be required to purchase for the recital such as specific color of ballet shoes and any extras that may be needed for you child's particular dance. 8. We will have one recital per year. Watch for notes with details about spring recital. We will need parents to help backstage!! 9. If we consider a class too small, we have the right to cancel or combine that class with another class. 10. We do not allow children to wait outside the building for their safety.
